Professor Steve Brittan IEng, FIET

Professor Steve Brittan is a Fellow of the Institute of Engineering and Technology. He began his career in engineering at Cincinnati Milacron Ltd with a six-year apprenticeship before qualifying as a Production Engineer. He advanced through the organization to become Plant Manager, during this period he spent time in the USA and a period of two years on secondment in the Middle East.

He was appointed Works Manager at GKN Hardy Spicer responsible for a £30M manufacturing facility modernisation programme in 1984 before moving to Matrix Churchill Ltd in 1987. He was again involved in projects in the Middle East before becoming Operations Director in 1989.

Following the merger with BSA Machine Tools Ltd he was appointed Managing Director, a position he held since 1992 before transferring to BSA Technologies Ltd in 2015, he now acts as Business Advisor for BSA Tools Ltd.

He has spent a considerable amount of time overseas in China, Taiwan, USA, Canada, Mexico, South Africa, Pakistan and the Middle East where he has set up and developed several strategic Partnerships.

Professor Brittan is Past President and Board member of Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce. Currently he is an elected Council member and has served on the Executive Committee of the Asian Business Chamber of Commerce.

He has previously been a Principal Committee member of the Manufacturing Technologies Association (MTA), and has also served as Governor at Birmingham Metropolitan College (BMet) where he was Chairman of the Finance and Business Development Committee.

Professor Brittan specialises in overseas business development with Birmingham City University and sits on the board of the Birmingham China Business Forum.
